 General Demolition was engaged to perform demolition services at the Academy of Peckham in South East London. The £135,000 contract included the demolition of four buildings dating from the 1970s – two eight-storey teaching blocks and associated water towers, and two gymnasia – and the internal soft stripping of an existing building that was completely refurbished. Construction waste from the site was sorted and transported to General Demolition’s waste transfer station at Walton on Thames for recycling. The cleared area was landscaped by main contractors, Miller Construction, providing new recreational facilities and a children’s playground at the Academy.
