General Demolition has been engaged by Tweeds Construction Consultancy to perform demolition works at Restell Close in Blackheath, south-east London, adjacent to Maze Hill railway station.
The 12-week programme involves the soft stripping and demolition of two 1960s 10-storey residential tower blocks - Lister House and Jenner House – and the removal of all fixtures and fittings and non-loading bearing partitions from a third tower block, Norfolk House. An Extec C-12 crusher is located on site to maximise resource recovery.
Norfolk House will be converted to ‘affordable housing’ while the demolition of Lister House and Jenner House will pave the way for a new residential development by Laing O’Rourke joint venture, Repe No.1 Greenwich SARL.
The site is a long time abandoned chalk pit and resembles a wide amphitheatre. The walls of the old pit have been forested and the woodland is now owned by Blackheath Preservation Trust.
