The eyes of the property industry were firmly fixed on Cannes recently for MIPIM, the premier property market, expo and annual knees-up. Now in its 26th year, MIPIM once again found influential property developers, agents and investors from all over the globe flocking to the south of France, with over 25,000 in attendance.
As one of the largest networking events in pretty much everyones calendar, MIPIM is a great opportunity to stay on top of all the industry trends and breaking news, with the opening night always drawing an impressive crowd.
It also serves as the perfect opportunity to take in the prestigious MIPIM Awards ceremony, where the latest cutting edge real estate projects go head to head for the coveted MIPIM Awards and the infamous nightlife MIPIM has to offer ensues.
Who better than, to represent General Demolition in the halls of the expos and the queues at the bar, then our very own chairman Colin Mcloughlin, a long serving Mipim veteran. A tough job but someone has to do it.
With confidence in the international real estate sector still climbing it was no surprise to hear many of the exhibition halls alive with chatter regarding the latest hot topics, crowdfunding and digital innovations like Smart Cities to name just a few.
Closer to home cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle were also busy generating a real positive buzz at MIPIM with lots of collaborative discussion regarding their individual strengths as cities.
Will everyones efforts translate into actual deals though? Only time will tell but with attendance levels clearly up compared to previous years, for us Mipim once again proved to be invaluable in making new contacts as well as strengthening the relationship with existing clients.
With preparations for MIPIM 2016 no doubt in motion, we are already looking forward to next year and who knows, maybe we will see you there.
