Demolition underway at prime Chelsea site
General Demolition is performing a full range of demolition services at The Power House, Alpha Place in London SW3. The former London Electricity sub-station is one of the most significant residential development sites to come to the market in Chelsea in recent years. Demolition of the seven-storey building involves asbestos removal, soft stripping and ‘top down’ demolition to the existing concrete ground floor slab. The 15-week demolition programme is scheduled for completion in May 2008.

General Demolition establishes 'Soil Hospital'

General Demoliton’s latest environmental initiative is a new bioremediation facility or ‘soil hospital’ where contaminated soils are treated and turned back into useful material suitable for use on most building sites.
Contaminated soils, mostly with high levels of hydrocarbons, are transported to our Environmental Resource Park where the soils are treated with chemicals and contaminants continuously washed out until the soil can be re-classified as inert material and re-used. The whole process normally takes around 12-16 weeks, depending on the level of contamination.
