Helping the homeless

Helping the homeless

A local school girl, Isabel Dolby (8) of Burhill Primary school, in Hersham, organised an essentials drive for the homeless.

During the very cold days in December last year, Isabel became increasingly aware of how many homeless people were out on the street, people who had been left with nothing and in need of some TLC.

Isabel met with her Headteacher, Sally Taylor and asked whether the pupils of the school could help her in her mission.  An essentials pack is a large Ziploc bag filled with essential items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, lip balm , gloves, cough sweets, socks etc.

Burhill Primary supported the drive for just over a week and enough items were collected to help an estimated 100 people.  General Demolition sponsored Isabel in her drive and arranged wheelie bins to be dropped off at the school to collect the items in.  Well done to Isabel on a terrific job helping and supporting our local community.
