Demolition works are well underway at Beckenham Hospital, the site of the UK’s largest LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) scheme.

General Demolition has been engaged by design and construct contractor Balfour Beatty Construction to perform internal soft stripping, asbestos removal and demolition of the buildings, originally built in the 1930s, to make way for the new Beckenham Beacon development.

The scheme is being developed by Bexley, Bromley & Greenwich LIFT Company - known as BBG LIFTCo. The £26 million project will be built in two phases with completion of Phase 1 scheduled for mid-2007.
